During both yearly and quarterly tax seasons, therea particularly evil criminal out there at work, who stoops very low to steal your identity. There have been alot of scams but one of the newer ones is based on emails which are purportedly sent by the Internal Revenue Service.

While the emails may look official, be very aware that it may well be a scam. With the high tax rate today, and so much worry about being current with taxes, these lowest of the low criminals are seizing on those who are afraid of any misstep with the IRS. Thi method of phishing can come as an email, a tweet on Twitter or other online methods.
Sometimes, they will even come in as a fax. The first thing to know is that the IRS never sends out emails regarding your tax information. It is simply a method they do not use. They use the US Postal Service exclusively. If you do receive one of the emails and there is an attachment, do not open it - ever! Do not click on any link they might provide even if your curiosity is killing you. Its a bait and they can get your information in more ways than you realize. If you do receive one of these, immediately forward it to the IRS at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Let them take over from there.

Many use a computer now as their primary means of doing business, communicating and just for life in general. The trick is to become cautious and if that means youre a little paranoid for a while and overdo it, its okay. Dealing with the IRS are straight forward. Anything from them comes in the mail or by an agent at your door, and hopefully, its the mail.
